Beschreibung
The first edition of this interesting in-depth study of the founding and production of the Kelmscott Press, illustrated throughout. The first edition of this work.A fascinating study on the founding of the Kelmscott Press. The Kelmscott Press was founded by William Morris and Emery Walker, publishing fifty-three books between 1891 and 1898. All books were limited edition works, issued as part of the Gothic revival movement.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirteen plates. Two pages of adverts to the rear.Collated, complete.Written by H. Halliday Sparling.William Morris was a noted Victorian textile designer, artist, and poet, largely associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, and the Pre-Raphaelite movement. He was one of the most significant cultural figures of the century. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the extremities. A few light marks and spots to the boards and spine. Light rubbing to the spine label. Spine is a little age-toned. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with only a few scattered spots. First gathering is working loose a little but remains firm. Very Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 922P20
