Complete with The Certificate of First Edition, signed by the binder certifying that this volume of Lafayette in America, by Louis Gottschalk was produced as part of the single private printing and binding of this limited first edition, of which 294 random copies were reserved for presentation by the publisher, l'Esprit de Lafayette Society, to the originally selected libraries, museums, and United States citizens in the year 1976. It is hand-bound in genuine top-grain buffalo leather especially tanned by Cromwell from matched hides assembled expressly for this edition; printed on Permanent Archive Text developed solely for this work to exceed the standards of the United States National Historical Publications and Records Commission and to resist deterioration for a minimum of two hundred years, with silk appointments and ornamentation on head, spine and covers in pure 24-karat gold.
