First edition, in a full calf binding with gilt tooling to the extremities and to the spine. This work provides a comprehensive guide to the lochs of Scotland, with a description by John Leighton to accompany historical and descriptive illustrations by Scottish landscape artist, John Fleming. Including Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Loch Katrine and Loch Garry, among many others. With fifty-two plates to accompany the text. The first plate is bound as an engraved title page prior to the written title page, rather than at page one as stated. Collated, complete. Engraved by Joseph Swan. In a full calf binding. Externally, worn, with rubbing to the extremities and joints. Front joint is cracked, with the backstrip lifting, held on at the rear joint. Rear hinge is strained. Front hinge is very tender, held on by three cords and could detach with further handling. Boards are slightly marked. Internally, textblock is firmly bound.
