4to, 429, 64 pp and fold-out map. (First edition was Berlin 1928) The second section, comprising 66 pages, titled "Reise im Lande des Fruhlings", is composed of Traven's own photographs. The book - "Land of Springtime" in English - is entirely taken up with the state of Chiapas, where Traven lived for some time, and in which he set his series of Jungle Novels, which take place about the time of the Mexican Revolution 1910 - 20. In this book, as in the novels, the indigenous people of the region, for whom he felt the greatest sympathy, are his subject.
