Bound in the original printed paper-covered boards and brown cloth spine. At the top of the photo you can see the original built-in brown cloth loop -- apparently intended so that the book could be easily suspended from a conveniently located nail or hook. 4.5" wide by 7.5" tall. 160pp. + many pages of ads, both bound-in and tipped-in. There are printed ads on both front and rear covers and endpapers. Besides the directories of Binghamton residents, businesses, and streets, this book is crammed with great old vintage advertisements for things such as a photograph emporium, the Albany & Susquehanna Railroad, Hartford (CT) Live Stock Insurance Company (insuring horses and cattle against death and theft), wagon hubs, cigars (i.e. segars), snuff, Singer sewing machines, square pianos, watches, boots, livery, boarding, carriages, Eagle Brewery, "colored job printing," steam printing, Binghamton DAILY REPUBLICAN newspaper, caskets, billiard parlor, drugs, stoves, dentist, Race's Oyster and Dining Saloon, Barton Seminary for Young Ladies, etc. Full title: "Lant's Directory of Binghamton City [New York], Containing a List of the Names and Residence of Every Family; The Business Directory or Classification of the Various Business Men, etc; Also the Street Directory, with an Appendix of Much Useful Information, 1867-68."
