Byrd's Antarctic expedition, and he led the dog-sled freighting of the supplies from the ships to Byrd's base camp "Little America". Walden later became the original breeder of the Chinook sled dog. Walden is considered to be one of the most respected and heralded pioneers of the Klondike and Alaskan gold rushes. This book is adventures in New Hampshire and Alaska are told from a dog's point of view; written as though the dog herself, is speaking and the author, Walden, swears it is the true history of his collie, "Shirley".
