Addressed to Sir Walter Scott, in a series of thirteen letters. Written by David Brewster, a British scientist who is known for his work in physical optics, which led to the discovery of Brewster's angle. Previously held in the Library of Taunton Castle. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, sound with light wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. Small splits to the cloth at the joints. Front hinge tender. Internally, firmly bound with pages vii to x partially detached. Pages are bright with the odd spot and minor age toning to the extremities. Part of the title page cut away.
