Beschreibung
Title page + from the editor page + 432 pages. Condition, Quarter leather & mottled board hard back binding good/fair, edge corner wear & loss top/base of spine, good gilt embossed title. Contents mostly good, clean & tight, missing blank front endpage. Owner name inside front cover & a few pencil notes before title page. A little light foxing to a few pages front & rear, a few pages with stains ( nothing major), a couple of corner folds, but the rest very good. Page numbering by printer is a bit odd, i.e. page 21 to one side and page 28 to other side, then page 30 onwards till page 119 to one side and page 116* to other side, then page 117*,118* &119* (not duplicate pages, just page numbers with asterisks) then page 120 onwards to end. From a very quick look, seems to be a good Georgian book of letters mostly (if not all) from titled ladies to other titled ladies, i.e. various from Lady Lucy M. to Lady Jane (from Harley Street, Edinburgh, . Lady S. to Lady T., Mrs H. to the Countess of E., Lady Lucy to Sir Henry, ( mostly Lady Lucy to Lady Jane). Letters written from Harley Street, London., Scotland, Naples, Rome & Wales, Many about travel and female subjects and chit chat. No author given, possibly as originally published privately for friends only and not for sale ( even BL only has this 2nd edition ) also as in 1820 he was in a Member of Parliament (he later became Prime Minister ). This is a very rare book, at time of listing could not find an original 1st or 2nd edition copy for sale anywhere on the net. Size: 12 x 19cm Approx. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 002578
