The characters portrayed are: Nicholas Nickleby, Ralph Nickleby, Wackford Squeers, Mrs Squeers, Miss Squeers, Miss La Creevy, Kate Nickleby, Newman Noggs, Madame Mantalini, Smike, Mrs Nickleby, Sir Mulberry Hawk, Mr Crummles, Mr Mantalini, Tim Linkinwater, Madeline Bray, Cheeryble Brothers, Old Bray, Mr Lillyvick, Arthur Gride, Brooker, John Browdie, Lord Verisopht, Frank Cheeryble. Half brown leather over marbled boards, five raised bands, red label with gilt title. Condition: Very good. Edgewear and rubbing to cloth. Leather worn through on corners, with small loss at top of spine. Partial splitting on inner hinges but the binding itself is firm. Internally, all plates etc as called for, plus extra plates as described above. Scattered foxing, but generally light. The plates are in very good condition, with some offsetting.
