Lot of Five "Bang" Gun for Young America Advertising Trade Cards, Spot. Spec. Co., Lexington, KY, circa 1920s, 8 x 5.5 inches. Five cardboard advertising cards, shaped like pistols, with diecut paper sounders inside that would pop out with a "bang" sound when the card was flicked out and down. Amoco Gas card has light edge wear, sounder intact; Theatorium card has tiny split to top tape, light edge wear, sounder intact; Kaufmann & Baer card has small tear to top tape, moderate edge wear; top tape of Ed. Delorge and Sar-a-Lee cards mostly ripped, sounders detached on one side, moderate edge wear; Lot in good condition overall. "Bang" gun advertising cards were used by many different companies in the early 20th century to advertise their products. The cards included in this lot are: Amoco Gas; Kaufmann & Baer Co. shoe advertisement; the Theatorium at Lykens, Pennsylvania; Sar-a-Lee "For Delicious Sandwiches" advertisement, with a Charlie Chaplin portrait on paper sounder; and Ed.
