The original edition, not a reprint! Ex-Library copy. Three plates are missing: 7, 46, and 48. (a Raphael, the Géricault, and the Ingres paintings) Many of the other plates are loose. The cover and binding are firmly held, although one or two pages are loose. The cover is faded and shows moderate wear, but lettering is still clearly visible. There is minor staining of some pages, the plates themselves are clean and brightly colored. Edges of protruding pages are damaged, not affecting the text block.
