Partially printed check size document from the Superintendent's Office of the very famous Gould and Curry Mining Company mentioned by Mark Twain at the beginning of Chapter XXVI, and elsewhere in his book "Roughing It". Virginia City , Nevada, August 4, 1866. The document records two sacks of Bullion as having been received for Savage Mining Company, the most famous of the major mines on the Nevada Comstock Lode, for smelting and assaying at Gould and Curry Assay Office.
