An early 20th century study of major French impressionists distinguished by four original etchings by Renoir, Manet and Berthe Morisot and wood engravings of works by Manet, Degas and Pissarro. The four etchings are printed from the artists' original plates. The etchings are: "Baigneue" by Renoir; "Jeunes Filles" by Renoir; "Portrait of Berthe Morisot" by Manet; and "Jeune Fille Etendue" by Berthe Morisot. Each etching is covered with a full-page tissue guard. The wood engravings include: "Danseuse" a drawing by Degas engraved by Jacques Beltrant; "Les Porteuses de Fagots," a drawing by Camille Pissarro engraved by Lucien Pissarro; and "La Parisienne" a lithograph by Manet engraved by Jacquest Beltrand. Additionally, there are 32 half-tones of a variety of works by Manet and other Impressionists. The book is blue cloth with gilt titles 280 pages, 7-1/2" by 10-1/4." The text includes a 71-page appendix section that is an extensive catalogue of Manet works. The book's exterior is in Fair condition -- there is a stain on the front cover, rubbing at the edges, and heavy rubbing on the spine. However, the interior pages are in Very Good or better condition with all illustrations and tissue guards intact The etchings and wood engravings are quite handsome.
