Sharp example of this inaugural issue of John Taggart's poetry journal Maps, with a cover by Herbert Bayer, and contributions from Herbert Bayer, Paul Blackburn, Robert Vas Dias, Murray Mednick, Russell Edson, Ken Irby, Gabriel Heilig, Nelson Richardson, Clayton Eshelman, Bobby Byrd, and Yorifumi Yaguchi. Taking for its name and mission an observation from Kant, Maps aimed to make new maps of "man's consciousness now, and of the past as seen from that now. The maps would be of regions just discovered, somewhat known, but not to the extent of the older areas or of the most recent projections". Oblong, 6.5" x 5.5" softcover book, saddle-stapled in card wraps. Unpaginated. Book with some mild tanning and modest rubbing to spine / covers.
