Mark Antokolsky (1843-1902) was probably the most famous and prominent Academic sculptor of the Imperial Academy of the Fine Arts in Saint Petersbourg. A descendant of a Lithuanian Jewish family, despite the restrictions of the settlement, had a successful career ёin the capital of the Russian Empire. The editor of the book was a prominent Russian art critic Vladimir Stasov (1824-1906). The book was published after the artist s death to commemorate his memory and includes numerous letters, memoirs, archival documents, facsimile of the autographs, photographs and reproductions. Text in Russian. In quatro. 22,5x16,5cm. 1046 pp. Monochrome ills. Brown cloth binding. Free end-paper damaged. Browning of the paper. Damages and losses of the leather spine.
