John Murray, 1829, first edition. This is a very attractive book, and a very rare first edition. John Heneage Jesse is famous for his later books about London and historical works. This collection of poetry was his first published work. The book is bound in full calf, with gilt titles and decorations on the spine, and decorations in gilt and blind on both boards. All edges gilt. The boards are a little rubbed and bumped, and there is a small amount of loss tot he head of the spine, but it remains a very nice binding. The text block is tightly bound, has one owner name on the front free endpaper, and the date 1829 written in pencil below the Roman numerals on the title page.
