First edition of the African American author's first book, a book of poetry dedicated to institutions of which he was a member, in particular the Fremasons. Bound in publisher's original blue cloth lettered in white. Very Good with wear at corners and spine ends, pages lightly thumbed. Grant Gilmore, a veteran of the Spanish American War was also the author of a 1915 novel, The Problem, a Military Novel which dealt with the color lines within the African American community.
