Large octavo. Pp.371. Edited, with an introduction, by George R. Agassiz. Contains portraits and maps. Col. Lyman's letters include accounts of battles and troop movements, but also lively descriptive anecdotes. His account of the surrender is fascinating. Sadly, a small cigarette burn mars pp. 326-336, but does not affect legibility. Otherwise a very good copy in cloth-backed boards, rubbed at the edges.
