Patterned brown cloth. Small octavo. 74pp. Frontispiece portrait. A tribute to the life of Edgar B. Lewis who perished during the Civil War. The book describes his early life, his admission to Trinity College for religious studies and his enlistment in the 19th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The 19th was attached to Slough's Brigade in defense of Washington, D.C. and also patrol duty in Alexandria. Lewis became ill while at camp and died of diptheria in September, 1863. The book has a section on soldier life at camp. A very good copy with some minor wear to the spine tips. The text is very good with some scattered foxing and a few spotted page margins. Scarce.
