Meek. ***CONTENT: This is a most unusual separate issue of the geological and paleontological reports from volume 1, part 2 of Emory's Mexican Boundary Survey. Initial chapters describe the geology, landscapes, and mineral resources of the Rio Grande Valley from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico; the country along the US/Mexican boundary on the eastern slopes of the Gulf of California (including the Colorado River); and that part of southern California from the Pacific to the junction of the Gila and the Colorado. Fossils from these areas are described by Hall and others; figured specimens include: echinoderms, corals, brachiopods, trilobites, gastropods, ammonites, and numerous bivalves. ***CONDITION: This is a complete, Good copy bound in original paper wraps, with printed title label affixed to the front wrap (see photo). Later tan paper backstrip, sewing and binding firm. Internally, the text pages are typically clean, but a few pages show edge soiling or scattered foxing. The plates, printed on stiff paper, are very legible, but show light foxing in the margins. The only evidence of previous ownership is a signature on the front wrapper: "Wm. H. Hendrickson, 1858".
