'Fully Illustrated.' All illustrations are in black and white. First English Edition (1880 on the title page). I want to note that 1877 is the only date on the copyright page. However, if you google the book you'll see that 1880 is the only referenced date of publication. You'll also notice that there are no other copies for sale anywhere on the Internet. I checked all of the book sites individually as well. That makes for a very rare combination of facts: that there is no other book for sale and that the author was and continues to be a quite famous and highly regarded writer and artist. 'Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch (1832-1908) was a German humorist, poet, illustrator, and painter. His illustrations used wood engraving, and later, zincography. Busch drew on contemporary parochial and city life, satirizing Catholicism, Philistinism, strict religious morality, and bigotry. His comic text was colourful and entertaining, using onomatopoeia, neologisms, and other figures of speech, that led to some work being banned by the authorities. Busch was influential in both poetry and illustration, and became a source for future generations of comic artists. The Katzenjammer Kids was inspired by Busch's Max and Moritz, one of a number of imitations produced in Germany and the United States. The Wilhelm Busch Prize and the Wilhelm Busch Museum help maintain his legacy. The 175th anniversary of his birth in 2007 was celebrated throughout Germany. Busch remains one of the most influential poets and artists in Western Europe.' Contents: I. Ice-Peter, II. Cat And Rat, III. The Boy And The Pipe, IV. Hans Huckebein, V. The Boy He And The Pop-Gun. 85 pages. Numbers begin at 7. All the pages are present. You can see the covers as well as I can so I won't add a written description other then that the edges have uniform rubbing. When you open up the book, the first front end paper is attached to the inside cover, but the rest of the textblock is pulled away from the inner spine (see photo). The pages, however, are well-bound to one another, actually no cracks, (maybe one tiny one) or spaces between any of the facing pages. The binding at the rear cover is identical to that of the front cover. The covers are not detached. The pages are moderately foxed, spots on every page, also a few mild water stains, and a few other stains, including traces of flowers. There are a number of instances where there is a short tear off the bottom or top edge at or just adjacent to the gutter. I saw only a few larger tears (1 to 1 1/2 inches). No tears touch any of the print or illustrations. I have no idea how to price this book, no reference point. I picked a number. May be stupid high or stupid low. If no buyer emerges I'll trend it down over time. If you want to see more pictures, contact me. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 002766
