Rare. A very good+ condition copy of the 1842 first edition, first printing, in the original blind-decorated green cloth, evenly faded. Gilt titles still bright on spine. Binding very good with only light wear to the extremities. Light knock to one corner. Text very good, tight and clean, with only very little very light foxing, just the odd speckle here and there. Yellow end papers, the front free end paper bearing two neat 1843 inscriptions. One barely noticeable, small, neat page margin repair. Tissue-guarded, steel-engraved frontispiece and engraved half-title, plus many woodcuts. Wide-ranging, comprehensive contents, from all aspects of guns and equipment to gundogs and all types of quarry, from game to wildfowl, deer to rooks. An excellent book. See photographs attached.
