Hardcover. Red cloth boards embossed with black and gilt decoration and lettering. A large book it measures 21 1/4 x 14 1/2 inches. With one fine chromolithograph on the title page and 12 illustrating each month of the year on the following. Printed on high quality thick paper they are produced by Leon Vidal. The images describe the lives of different species of bird at different stage of the years. One shows only insects. Most are black and white, two are sepia toned. The script stands out in aquamarine and gold. Condition: Very good. The boards are quite worn. There is damage to the base of the spine. The binding remains secure. The prints are lightly foxed this being slightly more noticeable at the beginning of the book. Some of the tissue guards are creased; one is missing. A large heavy book.
