First edition. 8vo.,46pp.,22 hand-coloured illustrations (one folding) by the author including frontis and title page; red half-calf, spine with contrasting black label, gilt title and ornate gilt dentelles over original decorative paper-covered boards, rubbed with wear to edges and corners; marbled endpapers; all edges gilt; fold-out plate repaired at fold and slightly creased; small stamp of previous owner on front endpaper; margins lightly browned with occasional light spotting and thumbing. Thackeray published a series of books for Christmas under the pseudonym of Titmarsh. A used, but still very attractive item. Please note faults, but priced accordingly.
