Beschreibung
(no dust jacket, but enfolded by a new professionally-produced FACSIMILE dust jacket) [a nice clean copy, some minor age-toning to the fore-edge but no significant wear]. This was the last of three volumes devoted exclusively to the title character's tales of the exploits of various members of his extremely extended family. The resident raconteur of a pub called The Angler's Rest, Mr. Mulliner (who as far as I know was never given a first name by his creator) was forever butting into other patrons' conversations, employing as his opener that their talk reminded him of a story involving one of his far-flung relatives. Wodehouse wrote a total of 43 Mulliner stories, mostly published between 1926 and 1937, with a few scattered additional tales appearing as late as 1972. Many of the stories were adapted as episodes of the 1970s British TV series "Wodehouse Playhouse," and Mr. Mulliner himself can be seen as a precursor of numerous loquacious barflies of later eras (e.g. Cliff Clavin of "Cheers"). NOTE again that the dust jacket on this book is a FACSIMILE, and has not been factored into our pricing. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 28315
