Bound in drab gray cloth-covered boards with printed paper spine label, 1 leaf [2 pages] publisher ads dated May 1838 before title page; 201 numbered pages includes introductory leaf of ads; catalog at end of 14 pages is undated; binding tight, light wear to spine ends and corners, 1-inch split to rear joint at top; binding unrepaired, as found; internally occasional light damp-staining to lower inner corner of final few pages, barely touching the text; otherwise clean pages with very occasional light age spotting; condition at least Very Good in original as found condition, now rarely found; Poe's only novel.
