hardback, octavo, first printed in English, from the Dutch. boards present but detached, all present but several leaves loose, a 1704 bookplate of John Hanbury of Pontpoole, Monmouthshire to the verso of the title page. Pencilled details of a later owner (the former DC of Cape Coast Castle) to the front pastedown and with some marginal annotation in the same hand, browning to some parts. Engraved folding map by Herrman Moll, strengthened to the verso of the leading edge, seven plates as called for. First published in Dutch in 1704, and written by the Chief Factor for the Dutch at the fortress of Sao Jorge da Mina. The plates depict views of the many coastal fortresses, and also of animals and birds of the area.
