Contemporary Half tan leather with gilt spine titles on red leather label; rubbed all round, very slight loss to top of spine. Internally very crisp, free from foxing and only lightly age-toned; light damp staining to edges of prelims; a few small tears in the margins with no textual loss; a few light pencil lines in the margins; early ownership inscription of James Gray to FFEP. A production error has resulted in a single leaf being poorly opened leaving its outer edge torn rather than cut, however the text is unaffected. Tipped-in to the rear is a fold-out photocopy of a plate depicting a movable frame / leaf hive. Overall Very Good-. Photos available on request. An attractive copy of this very scarce 1st edition.
