Tight and attractive copy (Volume XV, Number 52) of the famed weekly begun in 1925. Superb front wrapper art by the Russian-born American illustrator Constantin Alajalov (1900-87), the only artist to paint covers for both "The New Yorker" and "The Saturday Evening Post," best remembered for his famed cubist-style watercolor front covers. Scene here depicts the packed lobby of a theater, the foreground crammed with smiling social elite and overflowing staircase in background trying to squeeze in.
