Beschreibung
This is a collection of 7 leaflets, dated between 1979 and 1981, each one discussing a title published by The Franklin Library exclusively for members of The First Edition Society. Each leaflet is a quad-fold, ending up at 8.25" x 5.25", with a drawn portrait of the author and five panels of text. The seven books discussed are: "Loon Lake" by E.L. Doctorow; "War Within and Without" by Anne Morrow Lindberg; "Zuckerman Unbound" by Philip Roth; "The Hill of Summer" by Allen Drury; "Recapitulation" by Wallace Stegner; "Bread Upon the Waters" by Irwin Shaw; and "The Covenant" by James A. Michener. The Shaw and the Michener leaflets also have a single sheet, "Coming off the press", which was an early announcement of the publication of that book. There is also a sheet for "The Baby in the Icebox" by James M. Cain which has no accompanying leaflet. Six of the leaflets are in fine or near fine condition, but the Michener leaflet is poor, having had coffee (or something) spilled on it, staining it places and causing the "pages" to stick together. Housed in a black case made for the purpose and stamped in gilt with "The First Edition Society". Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 002765

Personally, I don't like my books to look and feel like a library book, so I don't use those adjustable jacket protectors like Brodart, Gaylord, etc. Where appropriate, books are supplied with their jackets protected by a thin, clear, archival quality acetate film which is loosely fitted with no tape or adhesive but which provides protection without de...
