The Case Against Creating the Office of Vice Chancellor [Romilly, Sir Samuel (1757-1818)]. Objections to the Project of Creating a Vice Chancellor of England. The Second Edition. To Which is Added, A Letter from the Author to a Noble Lord. London: Printed for T. Cadell and W. Davies by J. M'Creery, 1813. [3]-44 pp. Half-title lacking. Octavo (8-1/2" x 5"). Stab-stitched pamphlet bound in recent quarter morocco over cloth boards, gilt title and date to spine. Negligible light fading to boards. Light toning to interior, negligible light soiling to final page, small early annotation identifying the author to title page, interior otherwise fresh. $350. * Second, expanded edition. The "noble lord" to whom the additional letter is addressed is Lord Redesdale, whose reply to the first edition appeared earlier in 1813. OCLC locates 3 copies of this edition in law libraries (University of Iowa, Yale, Library of Congress). Not in Sweet & Maxwell.…
