A UK 1st Edition 1st printing hardback copy indicated by the date 1955 in roman numerals to the title page (MCMLV) and no further printings mentioned in the book. The second part of the authors "Sword of Honour" trilogy. - The book is in very good condition and retains its blue-coloured stain to the top of the page block as issued. It has a light push to the top and bottom of the spine which also has some rubbing to its edges. Bumps to the top outside corners and bottom of the front board. The page block is sunned and has pulled away from the spine very slightly at the top. Internally, there are the remnants of a sticker to the bottom of the front pastedown, with a blue stamped "G55" next to it. Otherwise, the book is complete with no tears, inscriptions or other writing inside- a very good copy. - The dust jacket is also in very good condition and has not been price clipped. There are prices of 12s. 6d to the bottom corners of both the front and reverse flaps. Sunning/ foxing across the jacket, particularly evident at the joins, spine top and reverse. Very light chipping to the top and bottom of the spine cover and where the front and reverse meet the flaps at the top and bottom. 2mm closed tear to the bottom of the reverse.
