After many ports of call he arrived at Tauranga, and soon after came to be shown Omokoroa. Our (author) Paths crossed shortly after my arrival in the neighbourhood. One day while out walking, I happenened to make my way to the wooded headland as thousands of others had done before me, and there discovered the remains of another age. Old tumble-down buildings, fences and gates, aged and neglected fruit trees inj a deserted orchard, a baker's oven and remains of the old Kauri homesead.
