The book explores covert operations, sabotage missions, and the intelligence work carried out by Norwegian resistance fighters supported by the S.O.E. The narrative highlights the bravery and ingenuity of those involved in these dangerous missions, contributing significantly to the Allied war effort against Nazi Germany. The work underscores the strategic importance of Norway in the broader context of the war and the relentless struggle for freedom. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 195292

Hardback. Zustand: Very Good Plus. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good Plus. First Edition. 1982. First edition. 208pp., 4 maps and 28 black and white illustrations. Operation Jupiter was a plan originating in 1941 for an invasion of northern Norway and Finland by Allied forces during the Second World War, and the object was to protect Arctic convoys and liberate Norway from German occupation. The first versions of the plan were code named Operation Dynamite, Operation Ajax and Operation Marrow. Devised and promoted by Sir Winston Churchill, the plan was opposed by all the senior British and Allied commanders, who considered it impractical because of insufficient air support and of limited value. The scheme was eventually abandoned in favour of the Normandy landings. The book is bound in the original maroon boards with gold titling on the spine. It is in excellent condition with a light dent at the bottom of the spine, and the contents are tight and clean with a name written on the front free endpaper. The dustwrapper is also very good with light bumping to the spine ends. It is unclipped with a publisher's price sticker near the bottom rear edge. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers gWWII36
