DESCRIPTION: Oriska, located in Barnes County, North Dakota, The population was 118 in the 2010 census. During the 1940's the population was about 217. Oriska was originally called Fourth Siding, and was founded in 1872 when the railroad was extended to that point. The name Oriska was adopted in 1881 * This 49 page illustrated Oriska High School Annual from Oriska, North Dakota is a real tribute to the Oriska High School staff and the students that were involved in the creation of this outstanding publication. The Student Advocate group which was composed of several high school students and a staff advisor was responsible for publishing the school paper and also the school annual each year. Each of the more than 100 photographs have been hand glued into this annual. There were 6 graduating seniors for the year of 1942. Every one of the pages would have printed one side only on a mimeograph machine and then assembled by hand. Most of the 9 title pages have been watercolored by hand. Almost every student must have been involved with the activities such as basketball, track, band & the girls glee club. The students even participated in two school plays, "The Dummy" & "Dude Ranch." At the very end of this 1942 Oriska School Annual are 4 pages of advertising. * CONDITION: The blue cover has stains and towards the upper left is a missing portion of the surface,about the size of a quarter. There are several instances where the glue that was used to secure the photos have yellowed with age. Overall the condition of this annual is good or better. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1290
