Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Published by Walter Smith London in 1880, here is the first hardback printing of "Gwynfryn" Margaret Roberts or more likely Dorothea Jones' THE OTTER'S STORY.ETC: Jacob's Story, Chammy the Chammietta, Our First Canary and "Chin:" The Story of a Tame Chinchilla. Blue cloth binding, gilt lettering, black pictorial decoration to the front and spine, 145 pages, gilt page edges, superb b/w illustrations including some full page plates, the book is in very good condition with some general browning to the spine and outer cloth edges. There is also some very minimal, light age browning to the inside page edges. Rarely offered for sale on any bookselling platform the book has a contested authorship, though it is highly likely that the book was written by Dorothea Jones who used the pen name "Gwynfryn" to show she was a resident of Gwynfryn Hall Ceredigion Wales. Dorothea died in 1885 and this was probably her last work with earlier books including "Friends in Fur and Feathers" and "Sick and in Prison" also attributed to her hand. A real rarity this and in excellent overall condition. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9455
