_____"This work contains an account of the author's journey through Kansas and Colorado in the summer of 1871._____ Tice was a member of a group representing the Missouri State Board of Agriculture._____ He first traveled to Kansas City and then to Atchison, Kansas._____ From Atchison he traveled west on the Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad to the terminus at Waterville, one hundred miles west of Atchison._____ Returning to Atchison, he traveled to Leavenworth and then to Lawrence and south to Ottawa. _____ Returning to Lawrence he traveled west on the Kansas Pacific to Colorado._____ He provides an interesting narrative with descriptions of the country traversed, the communities visited and the people met." --Kanzana 155. _____ The Kanzana copy was issued by The Industrial Age Printing Co with 1872 copyright and title page dates._____ This copy has the same number of pages but has neither copyright nor title page dates._____ The 1872 edition had the author's full name on the title page vs "J.H. Tice" here._____ Finally Kanzana mentions a "false title" page before the Industrial Age title page._____ We believe this copy is missing the true title page, with only the "false title", probably inserted by the distributor, surviving. _____ The final leaf has two ads, one for the Kansas Pacific RR touting their 33 mile line from Leavenworth to Lawrence, Kansas. _____ The top 3/4" of the spine is gone. _____ ._____.
