A sixth impression of the true first edition, published in 1951, in a complete and original dustwrapper. The second volume in the Ransom trilogy. "Perelandra" was first published in 1943, and reprinted twice in that year, once in 1944, and again in 1948, before this printing from 1951. The dustwrapper used throughout these printings is of the same design, but the thickness and quality of the paper varies. ***Very good in light blue cloth-covered boards with dark blue titles to the spine. The titles are still beautifully clear having been preserved by the dustwrapper. Head and tail of spine hardly creased at all, and no tears to the fragile cloth. Corners sharp. The boards are just very slightly foxed and browned at the edges, mainly at the head and tail of the spine. Some foxing marks also around the edges of the page block, bleeding slightly into the margins of a few of the pages. No reading lean to the binding, but please note that the back board is very slightly bowed, due to the very thin card used (please see scans). Spine tight. Interior pages nice and clean, with just some light sporadic foxing mainly to the first and last few pages. No inscriptions. Some light offsetting to the endpapers. ***In a very good original and complete dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped and retains the original publisher's printed price of 7s 6d net on the front flap, along with the correct '6th impression' stated on the front flap. Unlike most copies found now, there is no loss to the dustwrapper and no creases. There is some light rubbing at the top of the spine, and some marks to the back panel which has a white background. Apart from some light sporadic foxing, and a little browning at the top edges of the foldovers, there are no significant flaws. Extremely uncommon in this state. ***192mm x 133mm. 256 pages. ***'"Perelandra" is the second volume in C. S. Lewis' Space Trilogy. The other volumes in the trilogy are 'Out of the Silent Planet' (1938) and 'That Hideous Strength' (1945). ***A sixth impression of the true first edition, published in 1951, in complete and original condition with only minor faults. Very few of these early post-war editions have survived intact as the bindings are so fragile.
