Pianeta rosso, non è, semplicemente, la riscoperta di un archivio iconografico, nè vuole sollecitare un'attenzione puramente "documentaria", o archeologica. Ciò che si vuole testimoniare qui è, semplicemente e soprattutto, in quale misura e attraverso quali complessi dispositivi economia e immaginario abbiamo interagito, in una fase e in un contesto della nostra realtà storica e sociale. Un " segno" che, non a caso, è riproposto e evidenziato, sia pure in una chiave diversa, a partire dal gioco di ,re-invenzione pittorica proposto simbolicamente in copertina. Pianeta Rosso non è, quindi, solo un libro dedicato all'immagine del pomodoro e alla sua "tradizione", è anche l 'embrione di una ricerca complessiva, un indizio proposto nella direzione della scrittura di una nuova storia del rapporto dinamico fra sogni e bisogni, fra la "cultura" e la "merce". In ogni caso una tappa di un percorso culturale e editoriale che vedrà nuovi e altrettanto interessanti momenti e sviluppi.
