Beschreibung
This novel was first published in the USA as 'B. F.'s Daughter' by Boston, Little Brown in 1946, but was retitled as 'Polly Fulton' for the British edition, published by Robert Hale. Scarcer than the American edition, and very hard to find in the original dustjacket. ***Near fine in dark red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. No inscriptions. ***In a very good dustwrapper, slightly rubbed and creased at edges and corners, and nicked and creased at head and tail of spine. Small scuff to bottom of back panel where sellotape has been removed, otherwise nice, unfaded condition, showing publisher's price of 12/6 net. ***190 mm x 130 mm. 383 printed pages. ***'This is the first novel by Mr. Marquand in which the woman is the protagonist. It is a comedy of manners covering contemporaneously and in retrospect a period of thirty years.' [Taken from jacket blurb]. ***A major American novelist and satirist, John Phillips Marquand won the Pulitzer prize for the novel 'The Late George Apley'. ***'John Phillips Marquand served as a First Lieutenant in the Field Artillery in the First World War participating in several offensives in France - he did much confidential work for the War Department during the Second World War.' (Taken from jacket blurb). ***A scarce title to find in the original dustwrapper. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.***.
