This Publisher's Dummy includes full-page and in-text engravings as well as the color double-page map of Palestine. 19 leaves (mostly blank) of subscriber's names, residences, style of binding bound, in rear of book. Last text leaf in rear missing top part, affecting parts of text. Age wear and staining on binding. Heavy foxing on frontispiece tissue guard. Small closed tear on top-edge of first five text leaves, not affecting images or text. Binding in fair, interior in overall very good condition. Publisher's Dummies such as this were usually produced in very small numbers for two main purposes: that the publisher could see what the binding looks like, or, as samples for traveling booksellers or publisher's representatives so they would have something tangible to show to bookstore owner's or customers.
