First edition, first printing. Publisher s original decorative boards in original dust jacket matching the design. A beautiful book with one colour plate and 32 mounted photogravures with explanatory text of each type of person, each encompassing their life, professions, families and more, with many often laced with a sense of sadness and distant hope. Condition: Very good in very good dust jacket, unclipped (15/- net) with some loss at the spine and further small chips, creases, rubbing and small tears along several edges, the spine panel toned and with some apparent water damage to the bottom edge which seeps to boards. The presence of the dust jacket is scarce, however, and this one is now in Mylar. Binding tight and square, a little toning and the seeping water mark the card covers. Internally mostly excellent, the same water stains affects the first 16 or 17 pages, but only the first three or four are clearly evident - the worst being the half-title and title page shown - and the remaining much lighter, the rest of the text usually pristine with perhaps one or two tiny spots only. Half-title and title page also heavily spotted with offset toning to half-title. An otherwise very good indeed copy which presents beautifully. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 404096
