Erstausgabe. - [.] De Lesseps ließ sich weder durch politische noch praktische Einwände von seinem Projekt abbringen. Doch mußte zu seiner Finanzierung Kapital aufgebracht werden. In einer fast dreihundert Seiten langen und mit Karten versehenen Abhandlung Der Durchstich der Landenge von Suez erläuterte er die Probleme des Kanals und seinen Bauplan. Napoleon III. sicherte ihm seine Unterstützung zu, und Lesseps beschaffte sich ein Kapital von zweihundert Millionen Francs.
