First edition, first printing. Seventeen loose leaves in original printed flexible blue cloth portfolio and original black die-cut wrapper. The leaves are fine, with only a hint of soiling at the outer edges and a touch of blunting to the outer tips; the title page has a small crease at one corner (now flattened.) The portfolio is Near Fine with sunning to the front through the aperture in the wrapper, which is Very Good+ with a tiny tear, light stress marks at the spine and back flap fold, and a touch of shelf wear. In 1937, the year the book was published, he decided to give up photography altogether. "La Photographie" not only tied a ribbon on the artist's photographic career and experimental photography, but also summed up his earlier Dada tendencies, with its Duchampian puns for the photographs' titles. From then on, Man Ray devoted himself to painting. Loose as issued in original publisher's blue wrappers with title in black and additional black paper dust-jacket with rectangular die-cut to expose title.
