Published by Penguin Books and profusely illustrated in black & white with many of the best photos from the period 1938-1950 that appeared in Picture Post. Many are now iconic and include "A picture of Happiness" (girl on a funfair ride), portraits of war leaders, social deprivation in 1939, "Back to the Middle Ages" (Jewish persecution in Germany), Scotland and Home Rule and "Hemingway Looks at the War in Europe".
