Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

4to, pp188 complete with 16 chromolithographic plates accompanied by blank guard sheets illustrated by Harrison Weir with 25 b/w engravings throughout text (1 full page). Hardcover no dust jacket. Contemporary binding of half black morocco leather over grey boards with gilt titles and designs to spine in good condition with some rubbing to all edges of spine and tips of boards and some marking and scratches to boards. Inside a little foxing to end papers and the odd spot throughout. The frontis and plate 16 both some have some foxing and a little foxing to border of plate 7, otherwise all plates in very good clean and bright condition. William Bernhard Tegetmeier, a correspondent and friend of Charles Darwin, was an English naturalist, a founding member of the Savage Club and a popular writer and journalist of domestic science. Tegetmeier helped Darwin acquire much of the material for his practical work, providing information and specimens. A nice copy of a scarce first edition.
