Plunkett (1887-1916) was one of the martyrs of the 1916 Easter Uprising in Dublin, executed by the British for his admittedly minor part in the rebellion. This is a Very Good Plus to Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, less common than the Irish issue. No publication date, but per Copac, it was 1916; and it was actually printed by Talbot in Dublin. Green cloth binding with fancy gilt lettering on the front cover and gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 95 pages. This volume was edited by his wife (married just prior to his execution) and the frontis portrait of Joseph is her work. Inked gift inscription (1929) on the verso of the frontis. There is a newspaper clipping (1961) regarding irish martyrdom tipped onto the FFEP, which has offset a bit to the paste-down opposite. Lightly rubbed at the margins; there is a faint erasure on the lower spine, so possibly was an ex libris copy at some time, although there are no other treatments. Size: 12mo - over 6�" - 7�" tall.
