First UK Edition, First Impression. Publisher's original red cloth with printed label to the spine. Introduction by Siegfried Sassoon and promoted by Sassoon and Edith Sitwell. Offsetting to both sets of end-papers and a former owner's neat name to both the front free end-paper and the half-title page. Foxing to the early pages of the book. At the rear of the book there is some browning to the penultimate page (before the rear end-papers) caused by a couple of newspaper clippings laid in. There is a short, closed, marginal tear to page 15. The spine (and the edges of the back board) are partially faded (as is often the case) and there is a tiny tear at the head of the spine. Photogravure portrait frontispiece with tissue guard which shows some age-related tanning. About VG. No D/W. This single volume of poems contains some of the most poignant English poetry of World War One, including 'Dulce et Decorum Est' and 'Anthem for Doomed Youth'. Rare.
