An account or history of the first attempts to establish the Post Office as a public institution in the UK. Original red cloth gilt, pp. xvi, 355, two leaves of ads at the rear. An attractive, clean copy. The backstrip is sunned & colour faded (also along the top-edge of the rear cover). Top/edge untriimmed and roughly cut - a few leaves uncut.
