144 pages, 66 illustrations, 5 fold-out maps. One of the finest and most desirable of club histories. What finer pedigree than to have hosted the first DOZEN Open Championships? Heralding winners Willie Park Snr. (three championships including the inaugural in 1860), Old Tom (four wins) and Young Tom Morris (four wins in a row.) The first three of wins, 1868-1870, won Young Tom the permanent possession of the Championship Belt. With the Belt gone and no new prize put up, there was no Open Championship in 1871. Young Tom's last win in 1872 put his name first on the newly donated Claret Jug. Covers beautifully clean with full gilt and flawless cloth color. Slight bump upper corner. Internally bright and clean. All maps present and in fine condition. No foxing of any sort. No bookplate or former owner name. Contents without soiling, writing, marks, stains, foxing, marginalia, creases or tears. Beautiful copy, quite possibly none finer. Covers protected in mylar. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
